Cap. 16 Art. 1099Pleas which may be set up by joint and several debtors.

(1) Where proceedings have been taken by the creditor against a co-debtor jointly and severally liable, it shall be lawful for such co-debtor to set up all such pleas as are personal to himself, as well as those which are common to all the other co-debtors.

(2) Nevertheless, such co-debtor may not set up any pleas which are purely personal to any one only of the other co-debtors.
