Cap. 16 Art. 577Where artificer employs materials not belonging to him,

Where an artificer or any other person has made use of materials not belonging to him, for the purpose of producing a thing of a new species, the owner of such materials shall, independently of whether the materials can be restored to their primitive condition or not, be entitled to the ownership of the thing so produced, subject to his obligation of paying to the artificer or other person the price of the workmanship.
