A surety who has discharged the debt may only claim from each of his co-sureties the amount for which each co-surety is liable and is himself liable, together with the other co-sureties, for contribution in respect of the shares of the insolvent sureties, even though, on paying, he may have obtained from the creditor an express assignment of the latter’s rights.
