Cap. 16 Art. 1719When compromise is to be made by public deed.

(1) Where the subject-matter of the lawsuit to which the parties wish to put an end or which they wish to prevent is immovable property, the compromise is null, if not made by a public deed.

(2) The same rule shall apply where, in order to compromise, an immovable thing is given or promised.
