(1) In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires:

"the Act" means the Residual Balances Fund Act;

"beneficial owner" shall have the meaning assigned to it in accordance with regulation 2(1) of the Prevention of Money

Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations and as further supplemented in any implementing procedures issued by the FIAU in accordance with regulation 17 of the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations;

"Member State" means a Member State of the European Union and includes an EEA State;

"sanctions" means financial sanctions which are binding on Malta, as established under the National Interest (Enabling Powers) Act;

(2) Words and expressions used in these regulations which are also used in the Act but which are not defined herein, shall have the same meaning assigned to them in the Act.
