S.L. 552.28 Art. 6Billboards.

(1) (a) Billboards, except those mentioned under regulation 4, may only be placed:

(i) on the precinct of a sports facility; and, or

(ii) on sites which are located contiguous to or within the perimeter of the roads;

which are covered by a permission.

(b) In determining development applications for the location of billboards, the Authority shall decide the roads where these are to be located and also the specific distance between consecutive billboards;

(2) All billboards of such dimensions as the Authority may determine, except those mentioned under regulation 4, shall bear the Authority’s reference number for the permission. Such reference number shall be:

(a) affixed to the structure in order for it to be identifiable and shall not necessarily form an integral part of the advertisement; and

(b) be of such a form that it is permanently, clearly and legibly displayed; and

(c) in no case obstruct the advert. "Authority" may also include Transport Malta.
