(1) Malta’s contribution towards the realisation of the

Union’s target of forty-two point five percent (42.5%) for the share of energy from renewable sources in the Union’s gross final consumption of energy in 2030 shall be established in accordance with Articles 3 to 5 and 9 to 14 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 and published in the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan.

(2) The indicative target for the percentage of newly installed renewable capacity by 2030 which shall be made up of innovative renewable energy technology shall be five percent (5%).

(3) The Minister shall take the necessary measures to ensure that from the 1st January 2021, the share of energy from renewable sources in the gross final consumption of energy shall not be lower than the baseline share of ten per cent (10%).
