S.L. 327.695 Art. 1Citation and Interpretation

(1) These regulations may be cited as the Doctor of

Philosophy - Ph.D. - Degree Regulations.

(2) In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires, the terms used shall be taken to mean as indicated in the Glossary of Terms listed hereunder:

Glossary of Terms Term Explanation Board the Board of the University faculty or institute or centre or school where the doctoral research will be carried out Bye-laws Bye-laws made by the Board of a faculty, institute, centre or school and approved by Senate Doctoral the Doctoral Academic Committee appointed by Academic Senate Committee Doctoral the School in terms of the Statute for the Doctoral School School that provides a central coordinating and support framework for researchers at doctoral level, their supervisors and examiners Doctoral the Board of the Doctoral School appointed by School Board Senate Faculty/ the University faculty or institute or centre or Faculties school where the particular degree is offered Faculty the Committee entrusted to oversee each Doctoral student’s research activities and doctoral studies Committee M.Phil. Degree the Degree of Master of Philosophy – M.Phil. Ph.D. Degree/ the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy – Ph.D. Degrees Principal the main supervisor assigned to students with Supervisor responsibilities as outlined in regulation 36 Professional the Professional Development Committee Development appointed by Senate Committee University the University of Malta.
