S.L. 251.5 Art. 3Insignia.

(1) The Medal shall be circular, in cupro-nickel and 36 mm in diameter, bearing on the obverse a representation of the Emblem of Malta and the year "2014" in base, and on the reverse a design representing the Emblem of Malta of 1964 at the centre, encircled by the words "ĦAMSIN ANNIVERSARJU MILL-INDIPENDENZA" separated by an eight-pointed Maltese Cross from the inscription "MALTA 1964" at the base, all in relief; the whole being suspended from a bar within an olive branch and palm frond joined in the centre.

(2) The Medal is suspended from a riband 32 mm in width being white and red in equal parts, the whole having a moire effect.
