S.L. 16.20 Art. 52Training for mediation students.

In order to ensure that students undergoing training at the

University of Malta to become mediators benefit from placements with mediators, the following rules shall apply:

(a) a student enrolled in the Master of Arts in Mediation course at the University of Malta shall make a sworn declaration that they will maintain the confidentiality of those proceedings. Such declaration shall be filed in the Civil Court Registry (Family Section);

(b) before the student attends any mediation session, the mediator shall obtain prior permission from the parties;

(c) the student may take an active role in the mediation proceedings under the guidance of the mediator, provided that the consent referred to in paragraph (b) has been obtained;

(d) if at any time during the mediation process a party requests that the student leaves the mediation session, the student shall immediately withdraw from that session.
