Without prejudice to the provisions of article 87, the total credit to be allowed pursuant to article 81 to a person for any year of assessment shall not exceed the total income tax payable by him for that year of assessment, less any tax payable by him for that year of assessment under the provisions of articles 40, 69 and 73.
