S.L. 499.73 Art. 5Functions of the Council.

The functions of the Council shall be the following:

(a) to provide oversight on road safety together with the relevant competent authorities;

(b) to support the competent authorities in the development, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of road safety policy and strategy;

(c) to advise the Ministry on best practices, policies, action plans, legislative proposals and funding in the field of road safety;

(d) to promote road safety for all road users in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders;

(e) to develop programs and initiatives targeting specific groups on road safety issues;

(f) to collaborate with the authorities and entities from other countries on matters of road safety;

(g) to prepare budget estimates for the following year’s initiatives as approved by the Council itself and present such estimates to the Minister;

(h) to prepare an annual report outlining the work and actions of the Council, as specified in regulation 4(4).
