S.L. 437.50 Art. 51Suppressive vaccination.

(1) The competent authority shall notify the European

Commission if it decides in accordance with rule 48 and taking into account all relevant circumstances, to introduce suppressive vaccination and shall provide details of the control measures to be taken which shall include at least those provided for in rule 19.

(2) The competent authority shall ensure that suppressive vaccination is carried out:

(a) only within a protection zone;

(b) only on clearly identified holdings subject to the measures provided for in rule 10(1) and in particular paragraph (a) thereof: Provided that, for logistical reasons and by way of derogation from rule 10(1)(a), the killing of all animals on such holdings may be delayed as long as necessary to comply with European Community legislation and the provisions of rule 10(1)(c).
