(1) The title of these regulations is the Efficiency

Requirements for New Hot-Water Boilers Fired with Liquid or Gaseous Fuels (Implementing Measures) Regulations.

(2) These regulations shall be interpreted in terms of the Framework for the Setting of Ecodesign Requirements for Energy-Using Products Regulations, hereinafter referred to as "the Ecodesign Regulations".

(3) (a) These regulations implement the requirements of * Council Directive 92/42/EEC of 21 May 1992 on efficiency requirements for new hot-water boilers fired with liquid or gaseous fuels as amended by:

(i) Directive 2004/8/EC on the promotion of cogeneration based on a useful heat demand in the internal energy market and amending Directive 92/42/EEC and,

(ii) Directive 2005/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6th July 2005 Establishing a Framework for the Setting of Ecodesign Requirements for Energy-Using Products and amending Council Directive 92/42/ EEC and Directives 96/57/EC† and 2000/55/EC‡ of the European Parliament and of the Council.

(b) Council Directive 92/42/EEC falls under the SAVE programme concerning the promotion of energy efficiency in the Community.

(4) These regulations constitute an implementing measure with in the meaning of the principal regulations with regard to energy efficiency during use of boilers.
