S.L. 234.17 Art. 9Recognition of foreign certificates.

(1) The Registrar-General may recognise a certificate of competence issued by or under the authority of another Party to the Convention to any officer referred to in regulation 3 if satisfied that the requirements of the Convention concerning standards of training, competence, the issue and endorsement of certificates and record keeping are fully complied with.

(2) Where the Registrar-General recognises a certificate of competence pursuant to sub-regulation (1), the Registrar-General shall, on payment of the prescribed fee, endorse such certificate accordingly.

(3) The Registrar-General may recognise any other certificate issued by or under the authority of another Party to the Convention if satisfied that the requirements of the Convention concerning standards of training, competence, the issue and endorsement of certificates and record keeping are fully complied with.

(4) Certificates issued by or under the authority of a non-Party to the Convention shall not be recognised.

(5) The Registrar-General may withdraw or suspend the recognition of a certificate effected in terms of these regulations.
