(1) The title of these regulations is the Civil Code (Second Schedule) (Register of Beneficial Owners - Associations) Regulations.

(2) The purpose of these regulations is to transpose the relevant provisions of Directive (EU) 2018/843 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018 amending Directive

(EU) 2015/849 on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing, and amending Directives 2009/138/EC and 2013/36/EU and this in relation to information about the beneficial owners of associations established and, or registered under the laws of Malta, and these regulations shall be interpreted and applied accordingly.

(3) These regulations shall be without prejudice to the validity or effectiveness of anything done in terms of the Civil Code (Second Schedule) (Register of Beneficial Owners - Associations) Regulations, and, to the extent necessary, such provisions shall continue to apply until these regulations shall come into force.
