Should the RIAS identify negative impacts or flow-on effects, it should present strategies directed to manage them. Solutions to negative impacts or flow-on effects may include any one or more of the categories presented in Table 03. Table 03: Solutions to Negative Impacts or Negative Flow-on Effects:

Avoidance Altering the proposal so that the impact does not occur in the first instance.

Minimisation Modifying the proposal to reduce the severity of the impact.

Mitigation Alleviating or offsetting the impact.

Enhancement Adding a desirable or positive feature to the proposal.
